Woy Woy is an important Central Coast population centre on the Woy Woy Peninsula 80 km north of Sydney. The town’s commercial centre lies at the peninsula’s northern tip, while the residential areas spread towards Umina and Ettalong. Its Aboriginal name means ‘deep water’ referring to its deep tidal channel. Annual oyster festival (Nov) and ‘Spike Fest’ celebrating Spike Milligan’s life. Current population about 11 000.
